If you’ve ever tried to book a photo session and discovered your photographer was completely booked out—you're not alone. One of the most common messages I receive is,
“I wish I had reached out sooner!”
As a fine art photographer in Fairbanks, I intentionally take a limited number of sessions each month. Why? Because every client deserves my full focus, time, and creative energy—not to be squeezed between overbooked commitments.
So if you’re thinking about newborn portraits, a family session, or senior photos, here’s why booking in advance matters, and how you can make sure you don’t miss out.

Why I Limit My Calendar
Your family’s portraits aren’t just another appointment on my schedule. I devote time before and after your session to carefully plan, style, edit, and present your images with the attention and artistry they deserve.
By limiting the number of clients I take each month, I can:
- Provide a calm, unhurried experience
- Focus on delivering custom, heirloom-quality artwork
- Be available for meaningful communication throughout the process
This approach is one of the reasons families return to me year after year—it ensures every session feels personal and cared for.
When to Book
🍼Newborn Sessions: Reserve during your second or third trimester to secure a spot and I will pencil you in for a spot near your due date
🌸 Family Sessions: Book 2–4 months in advance, especially for summer, fall and holiday sessions
🎓 Senior Portraits: Ideally book in early spring for summer and fall sessions
My calendar often fills months in advance, particularly during busy seasons like summer and the holidays. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility we’ll have in choosing your preferred date, location, and session time.

But What If You Didn’t Book in Time?
Life happens. Babies come early. Travel plans change. Sometimes things fall through the cracks—and that’s okay!
Even when my calendar looks full, I always encourage you to reach out.
I do my best to accommodate last-minute bookings when possible, especially for returning clients or urgent milestones. I’ve often found a way to make it work, whether it means adjusting my schedule slightly or offering a spot due to a cancellation.
So don’t hesitate to ask—you might get lucky!
How to Reserve Your Spot
Securing your session is simple:
- Fill out my contact form with your session type and preferred timing
- We’ll connect to talk through your vision and session details
- Once your retainer is paid, your date is officially reserved
It’s never too early to start planning, and booking early gives us more time to customize your experience from start to finish.
I Can’t Wait to Work With You
Whether you're planning your first session with me or returning for another chapter in your family's story, I’m honored to be your photographer. The earlier we start, the more I can pour into creating something timeless and meaningful for your family.
